Pictures of bed bugs

Bed bugs are a very small insect, and as seen in the first bed bug picture below, can only be viewed with any real definition when magnified. The following two photos on this webpage show a bed bug next to rice (magnified) and on a man’s hand to provide context as to their actual size. The final bed bugs picture shows an infestation of Cimex lecturalariusis around the seam of a mattress where they are commonly found.

Physical description of bed bugs

Adult bed bugs usually measure between 6mm and 9.5mm in length, and have a flat oval shaped body. Before feeding they are a brown color, but after consuming blood they turn a darker reddish mahogany color. Magnified pictures of bed bugs show that they have very thin legs, and antennae between the eyes.
